Born in 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri. A mother of native American blood and a father of German heritage, Ray is an only child to parents who were not suppose to be able to have children. Ray knew since grade school that art would be the passion of his life. Having wonderful parents that put no restraints on his artistic talent, gave him the ability to paint without boundaries. Being a self taught artist, he has experimented with different techniques to achieve the styles he painted over the years. Ray’s growth as an artist has led him to the enjoyment of abstract art and letting the color itself tell the artist where it wants to live on the canvas. Ray’s abstracts are fresh, they explode with color and vitality, yet they exhibit a kinship with his Native American heritage. They exist outside mind and place.
