Artists Listings Now Cycle For Equal Visibility!
I enjoy listening to your comments and suggestions. A few of you suggested that older artist listings revolve to appear on the main entry page of our website (www.abstractartistgallery.org). There are so many excellent artists on the site now, the last thing we want is for any listing to go “stale”. So, with some digging of my own, I’ve managed to find and implement a script that does just that!
But not only will your listings cycle through the main entry page, you will also appear again within the other sections of our website that receive an equal amount of traffic – the Abstract Artists section and the Main Gallery. The oldest artist listings cycle through the site first, very gradually, so that each artist receives equal visibility over time. The cycle time will be around 14 days so that new artists that are still appearing on our entry page will not be moved off the page for a while.
This in essence make every aspect of the site fresh and interconnected, especially when you combine this new feature with our last modification of including an “other abstract artists” section below each individual listing. I feel this is another simple and positive step towards making the Abstract Artist Gallery the very best, most unique website of its kind. What do you think?
2012 International Abstract Art Contest
After some thought I have decided to host our first art contest. I hope that by doing so our gallery will be richer in terms of social interest, artwork, and website traffic. Based on incoming messages there is a feeling of fun and excitement around this event. Entry fees were kept low, especially for members of Abstract Artist Gallery.
What really sets this competition apart is that we are gathering like minded abstract artists by creating 3 specific categories of expression to enter into: Unique Exploration, Whispers & Other Worlds, Impacting The Senses. I can honestly say the work being submitted in the past couple of days has been top notch. Thank you for sending in your submissions and helping to share the news about this event.

Over 100 Artists Added – Quality Not Quantity

We passed the 100 artist mark. I honestly didn’t think we would before 2012. And while I am excited, I want to stress that quality, not quantity is important to me. I feel we have some of the best living abstract artists in the world. The more fantastic and passionate artists we include in the gallery, the greater the response from visitors. Talented and well known abstract artists are seeing what we have here, and desiring to be a part. I love to hear comments from our artists letting me know that the Abstract Artist Gallery sent potential customers their way. Here’s a couple I received recently:
“You are quick! So far visitors on my site via you….not bad! Good in comparing other sites!” – Jan Van Oort
“I’ve noticed visitors to my site being referred from your site, keep up the great work !!” – Steven Montgomery
As our gallery becomes familiar to people and as they bookmark the site, we are gaining greater loyalty and frequent visits to the main gallery, an impressive feat consider how I created the website early this year. The appreciation from our artists has been remarkable. The more I do for the site, the greater the personal satisfaction, and the better world wide presence we obtain.
How Best to Submit Your Art Work
Abstract Artist Gallery continues grow both in the number of artists and visitors on the web. It can be tedious at times to respond to people on our various portals of communication like LinkedIn, Forums, Twitter, Emails, etc. Please know, as the owner of the gallery I am doing all I can to communicate with everyone. With growth comes the submission of many artists, and with that more artist reviews. For those that are not accepted and those that want to know how best to submit your work I would like to reiterate something I said on LinkedIn:
Being accepted is really a matter of having a unified body of work, demonstrating skill, and having a unique expression to oneself. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so I would be lying if I did not say the artwork accepted is also a matter of my own personal taste. I hope nobody is insulted if they are not included. It is best to send 3 pieces of the same body of work, as those coming to the site seem to connect better with an artist that presents a part of them that is unified and not scattered. The same is true when displaying artwork in an actual gallery.
I want to thank everyone for submitting work, sharing the website with their friends, and just showing interest in the site. I really appreciate it.

Article Published About The Site
A great article about the Abstract Artist Gallery was recently published on Technorati:
Abstract Artists Site Working to Bring Exposure and Understanding to Hard To Approach Paintings

84 Talented Abstract Artists And Counting!
We are growing steadily as more and more people are becoming aware of Abstract Artist Gallery. We now have 84 talented artist listed with over 252 works of abstract art. I have always had the mentality that by joining together, and including people, rather than excluding people, then we will reach our goal. What is our goal? To be noticed around the world through the Internet. We are reaching our goal day by day, gradually creeping up on the search engines and spreading the word via social media sites, your blogs, and websites. Out of over 48 billion websites that show up on Google for the term “abstract artists” we are already on the first page. We are seeing increased traffic daily.
Of course, not every artist can be a part of the site. And I do feel bad about this, which is part of the reason I created our Facebook Page where any abstract artist can post there work in front of thousands of fans. I know these are tough times for most artists so I am all the more moved to building our awareness. The site is a vehicle to our work, thumbnails of artwork that beg to be clicked. Buyers are particular, they see a style and they will click to find out more about the artist. People that will come to the site will stay because of its ability to present many types of abstract art in front of their eyes. They can quickly look and browse using their visual senses. I do not believe that by capping the amount of artwork we will make progress. So expect more artists, more traffic, and more developments in the future.
New Facebook Page
These past few weeks we have had a terrific response to our new Facebook Page. If you are on Facebook you know what a great tool it is for sharing live information. If you are an abstract artist and you “Like” us you can post images of new artwork as well as links to your websites. Come by, check out the page and get to know what our artists are all about.
